(24) million men march

China’s unintended one-child policy consequences

and now it wants to move up the value chain (by making its own chip, its own satellite and space craft).

In short, China will have both man and machine in plenty. It is trying to move away from the toys and cheap knockoffs.

I can see the logic of its Africa strategy i.e. oil-for-toy.  The neocolonial motif: as soon as you evolved to a more developing stage, you turn around to help “develop” lesser-developed countries.

After all, China holds a permanent seat at the UN Security Council. Peaceful co-existence is good for trade (surplus).

It certainly cannot push too much Southward (this is an old geo-political move which predated the  jet and anywhere-communication age). Besides, Vietnam got its own demographic boom, which could make for a serious contender when it comes to regional conflict.

So China moves deeper into the Dark Continent. After all, it has no qualm with these “brothers” who welcome any infrastructure investment from anywhere. This symbiotic relationship erases any doubt that Black and Asian can work together (unlike “can we all get along” plea by Rodney during the LA Riot, where Korean store owners armed themselves to defend against looters in black neighborhood, South Central LA).

24 million men is a force to contend with.

Social policy makers will have to live down their earlier population control initiatives.

Legalized gay marriage? Peace keeping force for hire? Inshorring workers? (Firemen for International rescue, Haiti quake).

Calvin Klein already thought of selling a lot of jeans and wallets (Made in China, where else?) Domestic consumption.

Right now, Hong Kong film industry already exploits this “mass” appeal by producing Epic War movies which need massive extras on the set (before Special Effects in post-production).

Think of Million Men March on Washington. Then multiply that by 24 (of the Lincoln Memorial crowd).

I think of selling them contact lenses. They will need to stay presentable (the competition for the opposite sex will be much more intense than Susan Boyle’s search for her potential suitor).

The next few decades will see millions of Elephants, and millions of  Dragons. Chindia. Chuck Chink! Buy a liver anyone? How about medical tourism? We will reproduce Van Gogh by hands. Intense competition for jobs and women in the coming decades. The result: the bottom Billion will somehow get their cell phones, lap tops and diamond rings. No kidding! China men will still build railroad, this time, not in America, but Africa (World-fastest bullet train has been in operation for a month now in interior China). And they will save up enough for their African dowries. Their kids: Chafricans, who will be flying on Chinese-made space crafts, leaving the Jetsons in the dust. Don’t forget  chopsticks to go. Your fortune cookies say the year of the Tiger is for spending. USA goods highly recommended. We need to live down the deficit.
