The thousand tribes have been scattered after Babel.
Now E-gathered. On Twitter. Discussing “American Gods”.
Brief comments only, please.
Too much data burst.
In playing a Blondie secretary in Working Girl, Melanie Griffin utters ” every time I think, it gives me a headache”.
140 characters should do the job. Do you like the book? How do you like it? Succinct.
Less is more. That book was downloaded for free at one time as a Long Tail (freemium) experiment.
Now, this book club.
The sheer size of the project should do us proud. It is like when satellite link up made possible Farm Aid. It’s our Read Aid for the 21st century.
Like Gideon bibles given away outside American campus, and inside motel rooms (not that students can afford a room).
One thing for sure, if the story line shows Ancient Gods clashing against today’s Gods (E-Gods),
then I am sure today’s Gods command a larger following, due to population growth and network effect. Ancient gods can only command
disasters and plagues (destructive), while the gadgetry and anti-virus software invite participation (democratized).
Now, the divisiveness will come from within this new big group, not the technology that helps them come together
in the first place. Sort of like the break up of the Beatles, who used to sing “Come Together, right now”.
But while the Fab Four were together, there weren’t anything like it then, and since. No wonder George left us with
“All things must pass”. I think I am going out and see what the book looks like from the inside. Don’t want to miss out Read Aid.
