My tech adoption

First, I talked through two empty condensed-milk cans and a string (you can actually hear).

Then, came the AKAI (audio tape, with “Do it Again” by Steely Dan).

Finally arrived the 8mm film recorder (after vinyl records, Beta and VHS, brick phones, pager and fax).

Oh, don’t forget the 8-track which my college roommate kept playing “These Eyes” over and over on.

Let’s leapfrog to the I-pad and AT&T tiered data pricing.

Since no one knows how much data they are using, we are returning to the pay-per-use pricing, just as we nailed down all-you-can-call cell phone plan.

Tablet computers will be here to stay because of its ease-of-use, ease-of-transport and ease-of-network-access.

It couldn’t have been relaunched at a better time (Wi-Fi network ubiquity).

One tablet per child.

(in the picture, one of the  models was holding a tablet, which says “I love Asus”).

The Apple stores are swamped with walk-in. Prospects were encouraged to touch and feel (puppy-dog selling).

Same way B&N started out and remains that way (to let readers browse as much as they would like).

Best advertising is self-persuading.

Once people are impressed and intended to buy, half of the battle has been won.

Starting at $499.

No wonder Apple valuation surpassed Microsoft this past week.

I don’t remember walking into a MSC store, and try anything.

The last time I bought a Win 7 upgrade, it was locked up in a glass case.

And it took me a good fifteen minutes to “un-cage” the product (empty box), then to have it scan by the Staple cashier.

Quite a different buying experience between the two companies.

Sometimes I wish I still live in a neighborhood where I can throw the empty can over the balcony, and started a private line conversation.

All-you-can-talk at no charge. Because that neighborhood telco would be mine. And I can read receiver’s feedback non-verbally and audibly.

I hear Carpenter’s “Yesterday Once More” fade in. Guess it’s time to sign off. It’s a data-tiered pricing world now. The more burst, the higher the bill. KISS.
